(i) Regulating Act 1773 AD
This was the first act by which the British government attempted to establish constitutional control over the East India Company. Its major provisions were:
(a) 24 Directors (for four years) were appointed to the Court of Directors, of which 25% directors retired every year.
(b) The Governor General and its four-member council were appointed in Bengal, whose tenure was fixed for 5 years.
(c) People who have at least 1000 pounds share got the voting rights
